Polycarbonate Resin Capacity Increase

Polycarbonate resin installed capacity has almost tripled since 2000. Speculative capacity additions reflect 2% growth in the global polycarbonate capacity between 2016 and 2020. Much of these capacity additions are scheduled to take place in China. Major players as well as domestic producers are looking forward to de-bottleneck their plants and add new production lines in order to meet the rising demand. SABIC and Covestro together account for over 50% of the total polycarbonate capacity, with strong presence in China, US and Europe.
