Report Description
Asia Pacific is the largest market for calcium chloride, accounting for over 27% of global demand. In 2025, calcium chloride demand reached 1460 kilo tons, marking an 9% increase since 2020. The market is supported by diverse sectors, including oil & gas, industrial applications, construction, and dust control, with significant adoption in countries like China and India. Growth is further driven by modernization initiatives, infrastructure development, and increasing industrial activities. Over the forecast period, calcium chloride demand is expected to grow at a CAGR of 3.5% between 2026 and 2034.
Calcium chloride is a versatile inorganic compound, commonly employed in industry, chemicals and household applications. It is a solid form of salt at room temperature and is extremely soluble in water. Its hygroscopic property allows its water absorption from the surrounding environment, making it well-suited to desiccant applications in many parts of the region. Calcium chloride is commonly used in snow/ice/cold road de-icing, dust control over unpaved/gravel roadways, among many others. It is very efficient as a de-icing agent is that it dissolves in water, drops its freezing point and releases heat on dissolution, thus reducing the area within subzero freezing point and hence accelerating the melting of ice. It is considered food safe and consequently is widely used in food production as a firming agent and coagulant, especially in canned vegetables, tofu and cheese.

Ltd., Aarti Industries ltd, Kutch Chemical Industries, SRF Limited, DCM Shriram are the leading calcium chloride producer in India.
Asia Pacific is a net exporter of calcium chloride with 1514 kilo tons recorded in 2024, an increase of 5% since the previous year. China exported 1399 kilo tons in 2024, supplying to Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Chile, and Russia. Japan is a net importer with average calcium chloride import of 72 kilo tons, followed by South Korea with average imports of 235 kilo tons. India is a net exporter of calcium chloride with exports of 84 kilo tons reported in 2024, most of it is exported to Oman, Kuwait, UAE and Vietnam.
The total calcium chloride manufacturing capacity in Asia Pacific can reach 3100 kilo tons during 2025 while China alone has a 2606 kilo ton installed capacity. Shandong Haihua Group Co., Ltd. operates a 400 kilo tons plant in China. Suyan Jingshen subsidiary of Jiangsu Salt Industry Group - 350 kilo tons and Weifang Sodash Chemical Co., Ltd - 210 kilo tons. In the forecast period, Shandong Cuifeng New Materials Co., Ltd. plans to start a 40 kilo tons plant by 2027; followed by Baotou Yonghe New Materials Co., Ltd. New Energy Materials Industrial with a new 250 kilo tons plant expected to start production by 2026. Tokuyama Corporation has a 240 kilo tons calcium chloride plant in Japan. There are 5 plants in India with a total capacity of 146 kilo tons. DCM Shriram is on track to launch a 75 kilo tons production plant of calcium chloride by 2027.
Asia Calcium Chloride Demand By Application (Kilo tons)
Source: Secondary & Primary Research and Prismane Consulting estimates
In 2025, liquid calcium chloride led demand by form with 891 kilo tons, largely due to its extensive use in de-icing, dust control, and brine solutions. Granules/solid calcium chloride, which saw a demand of 567 kilo tons that year, is expected to experience the fastest growth during the forecast period, with a CAGR of 3.8% from 2026 to 2034. This growth is driven by its longer shelf life, ease of storage and transportation, and expanding applications in industrial processing, construction, and drying operations.
In the Asia Pacific region, Oil & Gas and Industrial Applications represent the largest segment for calcium chloride, with a demand of 582 kilo tons in 2025. This segment is expected to witness the fastest growth, registering a CAGR of 3.8% between 2026 and 2034, reaching 1095 kilo tons by the end of the forecast period. The region's growth is supported by major oil-producing countries such as China and India, which have significant drilling activities China operates over 1,300 oil wells, while India continues to expand exploration and production efforts to meet rising energy demands.
Asia Calcium Chloride Demand, By Region – 2025 (Kilo tons)
Source: Secondary & Primary Research and Prismane Consulting estimates
De-icing & Dust Control is the second largest in the Asia Pacific, with a demand of 38 kilo tons in 2025, and serves as a strong basis of air quality and road safety improvement, especially in colder northern China and the arid regions in India. In China, there is a high need for calcium chloride to reduce icing risk because of the harsh winters of the northern provinces, and millions of kilometres of roadways require ice control annually. Likewise, expanding industrial and construction projects in dusty, desert areas like Rajasthan and Gujarat also bring substantial volume demands for calcium chloride to combat dust. These countries collectively contribute a significant portion of the calcium chloride intake in the region and therefore a big chunk to the region’s calcium chloride consumption as a whole and promote safer transport and healthier surroundings.
The construction industry significantly contributes to the demand for calcium chloride and its application as a concrete setting accelerator. It accelerates the hydrating process in concrete, which reduces setting time and can also increase initial strength. This advantage in cold climates or in winter construction, with snowfall delays weighing heavily on the project and leading to delay. As a result, calcium chloride is widely used in roadworks, bridges, tunnels and huge infrastructure projects requiring efficiency and durability. Other applications, including cement & construction, chemical intermediates, and others, together accounted for a combined demand of 489 kilo tons in 2025.
Tokuyama Corporation, Panoli Intermediates India Pvt. Ltd., Aarti Industries ltd. Kutch Chemical Industries, SRF Limited, Ittehad Chemicals, Sitara Chemicals, Luxi Chemical Indsutry, Shandong Haihua Group Co., Ltd., Weifang Sodash Chemical Co., Ltd, Qingdao Alkali Industry Development Co., Ltd., Weifang Bell Chemical Co., Ltd, Weifang Tianhong Chemical Co., Ltd., and Tangshan Sanyou Calcium Chloride Plant are some of the leading players calcium chloride producer in Asia.
